Welcome to my website. My name is Ethan Kent. I started this blog to share my struggles with my Mental Health and It has now grown into an outlet to share my creativity with the world. You will find posts on my blog about Mental Health & Wellbeing, Fashion & Style and Photography.

If there is one thing from writing this blog that has become clear to me is that there is a significant amount of people suffering from mental health problems, some similar to myself. I heard a while back on the radio that 1 in 4 people would be affected by some form of mental illness and couldn't believe that it was that high, but people have come forward to me and shared their problems and I now see that it could be that high of a figure and I'm sure there're people who are still suffering alone. This is because mental illness has been over looked for so long and it's difficult to actually say out loud what is going on in our heads and even when we do, we barely scratch the surface. In the cases where we do go into extensive detail, we hardly believe it ourselves that this is going on inside our minds so how can anyone else be expected to understand. The only people we can truly speak to without feeling like we are going insane is those who have been, or are going through something similar and even then it can be difficult because we all have our own triggers and problems on different scales.

My main objective in writing this blog is to make people aware of mental illness and so it isn't looked down on anymore, so everyone can get the help they deserve. If I can make just a few people aware and they can make a few more, we won't have to suffer in silence and feel like we don't have anywhere to turn to. Something that I've picked up on more and more is that if people don't have to deal with mental illness they will just go away and this goes for everything, if we sit back and do nothing in turn the problem only gets worse.

Don't give on looking for help, what works for one person isn't going to work for another. I was lucky enough to get a therapist that I can relate to and open up easily but I know others who have been to multiple counsellors and therapists before finding the right one for them. But if anyone is looking to take the first step or explore another option here is a link to refer yourself to talking mental health which is the method I first chose and has been effective for me so far http://www.derbyshcft.nhs.uk/our-services/patient-information/psychological-therapies/talking-mental-health-derbyshire/how-to-access-the-service/self-referral-form/ this is for derbyshire but I'm sure each county has there own.

I was having a good week, my moods had been good and pretty consistent, I'd managed to go out to town a couple of times last week, unable to fully let go and drink yet, but it's a positive non the less. Unfortunately yesterday morning I woke up ill, I've come down with flu like symptoms and have spent most of the last two days in bed, my natural thought process then is that this is just another negative in my life and I'm unable to look past it and because of my consistent worrying it always seems to be worse than it is. I'm just trying to focus on getting better and get back to getting on top of my anxiety.
